Make a flower crown of your own!
In Sweden, it is one of the main activities to make a flower crown for the Midsommar celebration.
Here is a tip how it is made;)
But no pressure!
Going to the garden or picking some of your indoor plants is how you find the ingredients for your very own flower crown.
I found some pretty flowers in my room including some cut flowers from my little flower vase.
What equipments do you need to make a flower crown?
That feels a bit something not familiar with, does it?
Well, I am a florist so I use a floral tape which has sticky glue-ish material in (You can buy it in a craft shop.) though it is not necessary when it comes to the situation where you just enjoy the flower works! This is used more like for the wedding so that to be sure about the quality, and long-lasting reasons etc..
What at least you need is the wire, not too thick but would be nice if you have both a bit thick one and a thin one 🙂
How to make a flower crown
I assume that it is easier to see on videos though my hands were too busy to film it by being occupied by the crown;) Here are some photos instead!
- Cut the flower ingredients individually. Approximately 20-30 parts(it is up to you how many you want).
- Use the thicker wire as the base, and put the flower parts onto it by tying with the thinner wire one by one.
3. Continue to the end of the length you think it fits your head.
4. Use the ribbon to adjust to your head size.
Here you are!
Recap and tips
Pick the summer flowers from the garden, or if you prefer to buy them in a flower shop, get only few flower stems which have many small blooms:) e.g. instead of buying 5 single large roses, you can buy one stem of spray rose. or instead of a big carnation, you can buy a spray carnation (that is what is used for the flower crown in the photo).
Green/leaf material is useful, especially Ivy leaves are strong and easy to use, as well as long-lasting without water.
Flowers from nature are not as long-lasting as the flowers from the flower shop when it is out of water so if you want is to last long without water, better to buy flowers honestly;)
Dried flowers are also good to make a flower crown, if you have some at home!
That’s all for today.
Enjoy your midd summer (midsommar)!
